Cats Need Grooming?!?
Dogs have been bathed and groomed since scissors and soap were invented. Understandable...they smell bad!
Cats, on the other hand, were largely thought to be "self grooming". Today we understand that cats benefit greatly from regular bathing and grooming. Regular care by a professional groomer can help reduce hairballs, shedding and dander in your home. With regular care, the health of your cat's skin and coat will blossom.
Coat trims on cats can be very helpful to control matting in problem areas, reduce shedding in the home, or to help make a long haired cat more comfortable in the summer time. And many people just love the look of their kitty in a Lion Trim.
When matting develops, you'll usually need a professional groomer to safely remove it.
And no, cats don’t hate water; they just hate being cold and wet. Most cats are surprisingly civilized and tolerate the grooming process very well. And though they might not always appreciate the process, they always appreciate the results. So will you! Especially if your kitty sleeps on your pillow!
Finding a Professional Cat Groomer
It can be frustrating trying to find a professional groomer willing to work on cats. Many won't even touch a cat! Cat grooming is nicknamed "Kung Foo Grooming" in the industry. Sounds kind of adversarial, doesn't it?
Simply put, many of the types of discipline and control that are used while grooming dogs just don't work with cats. Some practices are even dangerous to cats. Trying to let a cat "know who's boss" just never works! Cats already know who the boss is...THEM!
We "speak cat" and know how to work with them while causing a minimum of stress. We’ve found that calm gentle control and a minimum of physical restraint works best.
Safety and Comfort
Cats are special and they require special treatment. Your pet's safety and comfort are our primary concern. We recognize signs of stress and take a "time out" if needed. We will never rush through a job at your kitty's expense.
We promise to never restrain your cat with a “groomer's loop” (a short leash) around your cat's neck (a terrible strangling risk). We will never groom your cat in the presence of barking dogs, multiple noisy driers, loud music or other frightening sounds and smells. We'll use plenty of comfortably warm water...we know cats hate getting cold! We'll never spray water in your cat's face, make them shiver on a counter waiting to be dried or blow a drier in their face. We never cage dry.
We'll never treat your cat like a dog and we'll never start a "Kung Foo" fight with your beloved companion. And we’ll have them back home just as soon as we finish!
Your cat will receive quiet and loving one-on-one attention in our private mobile salon from people who love and understand cats. We even condition our salon with Feliway® calming spray, to help give your cat a secure sense of comfort and wellbeing. And, we don't take it personally when your cat calls us bad names while we’re working...we're usually friends in the end!
