Cat De-Shedding
This is the purrfect treatment to reduce the amount of shedding hair that ends up in your home or swallowed by your cat. Its also a great alternative for those not wishing to have their cat trimmed.
If you take a close look at the hair shed on your sofa, you’ll probably discover that it is fine, fluffy and not really the color of your cat! Do you have a cat with a glossy black coat? The shedding hair is probably fine silvery grey. We see the glossy black guard hairs on coat’s outside, but the majority of the shedding hair comes from the grey undercoat.
The de-shedding treatment specifically thins out the undercoat while leaving appearance of the cat unchanged, with its longer more colorful outer coat is left intact.
A bath always precedes the de-shedding treatment. Following the bath, a special solution is worked into the cat’s coat that helps relax and release loose undercoat, making it easier to remove.
After drying, a “carding blade” is used to thin the undercoat while preserving the outer guard hairs. The result is greatly reduced shedding while maintaining the original coat length and appearance of the cat.
