What a Pile of Hair!
One of three things would happen if this cat didn't get a little help with his personal grooming.
1. The hair sheds onto your clothing and furniture.
2. The cat trys to groom itself (what is one little tongue against that much hair?) swallowing an unhealthy amount. This can lead to hairball vomiting and bowel obstruction.
3. The remaining dead coat begins to bind together, usually near the skin, and mats begin to form.
